Hello! As the Speech/Language Clinician at the Middle School, I work with students who have been identified through an assessment process with a variety of communication difficulties. Students might be having trouble pronouncing various speech sounds (articulation), difficulty producing fluent speech (stuttering), or they might have a voice problem. I work with students on the Autism Spectrum helping them to understand the social language that many of us take for granted. Other students might need help with increasing their vocabulay development, understanding and following directions, using appropriate grammar and other areas of language. Every
student has individual needs and makes each one of my days an adventure! Typically I see students on either a one-to-one basis or in small groups. I work closely with teachers, the Special Ed. team and parents.
Wow! It is hard to believe that I have been working for twenty years in this field. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN in communication disorders which allows me to work with students from kindergarten - 12th grade. I have also taken many graduate level classes.
In my spare time, I enjoy working on scrapbooks, reading, walking, working in the garden and spending time with my neice and nephews. I am currently working on remodelling my house which is a never ending process.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and/or concerns about the speech and language development of your student.
