Larry Gavin has an MA in English from Middlebury College's Bread Loaf School of English, Middlebury, Vermont.  He has taught at FHS for sixteen years.  

Mr Gavin is a poet and author of three books Necessities, 2004 Least Resistance, 2007 and Stone and Sky 2011, all from Red Dragonfly Press.  His work has also been anthologized in Minnesota Seasons, 2002, in Farming Words, 2007, in County Lines 2008, Poetic Strokes, and Perfect Dragonfly 2011. His latest two books Stone and Sky and Stll Water: New and selected Poems will be available late in 2011.

Mr. Gavin is the editor of Tumbling Crane, a magazine devoted to the Haiku in English, and is a field editor for Midwest Fly Fishing Magazine, and a Contributing Writer to Minnesota's Outdoor News.

Mr. Gavin is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English, The Minnesota Council of Teachers of English, and serves on the Minnesota Department of Education's Quality Teaching Network in language arts. He worked most recently on the state graduation standards for Language Arts 2011.

He teaches grade 10 English, American Literature, Contemporary Literature, and college composition.
