Dean Morkassel was born in Warren Minnesota in 1969. He was raised on the family farm which was established by his great grandfather Goulic Morkassel.

Dean Wrestled on the varsity squad for three years and graduated from Warren High School in 1987.  He went to college for a year at North Dakota State University then transferred to Harding University in Arkansas.  He graduated with a B.A. in History in 1992. Dean is expecting to complete a Masters Degree in the Spring of 2007 at Minnesota State in Mankato.

Upon completion of his undergraduate degree, Dean substitute taught in the Fargo, Moorehead area for a year and a half.  He was drawn towards young people who were struggling and reached out to them through the Youth Group at his church.  This grew into a ministry and eventually an internship in St. Louis with the St. Louis Spiritual Internship.

Dean finished his Internship and went into full time ministry  in St. Paul.  He worked with inner city youth trying to teach them better ways of dealing with their problems than gangs and other common downfalls of inner city youth.

In 1998, Dean returned to education as an EBD teacher for Whipple Heights in Ostrander, Minnesota. He taught there for 1 year, Farmington for a year, Waseca for two years and Northfield for two more. This is Dean's third year at the Rice County Day Treatment.

Dean married Tammy in 1999. She had 3 children from a previous marriage and they have raised or are still raising them together in Northfield.  Joey 21, Kristen 19, and Alicia 14.  Joey married Aurora, (Jan. 2005) and had a son, Gavin (June 1, 2005)
